Gorilla Warfare

Gorilla Warfare

Ted is in jail and Phyllis is on the run from the cruelty people, lost in Africa and hunted by terrible enemies. Muddlewick is King of Scotland and has started a major European war. The world appears to be in melt-down mode, and going crazy, with new religions erupting all over Africa. Is this the end of times?

Whose side is the witch doctor on? Will Muckle Geordie finally find his soul mate? Is Pubgrub’s marriage finally on the rocks? What ancient secret lurks in the Congolese jungle ready to unleash fear and darkness upon the world? Who is Solly and how does he know Wetlund’s mysterious Dr. Duckworth? Can Pubgrub save the day and lead Wetlund to independence, and will the Cruelty Man get his just desserts?

This is the third and final volume of the Chronicle of Wetlund.  Like its predecessors, The Sons of the Stuarts and Satanic Rites, it is set mainly on the magical island of Wetlund off (far off) the north coast of Scotland.  However, in Gorilla Warfare, the heroes Pubgrub, Willy the Vampire, Honey, Muckle Geordie, Ted and the Wimp, accompanied by Solly Fink (who has been around a very long time), travel to the Democratic Republic of the Congo in order to rescue Phyllis the Gorilla and bring her home to Wetlund. Travelling through the forests of the DRC in Big Red, Muckle Geordie’s highly customized Russian war-wagon, the friends meet many adventures and Muckle Geordie meets his fate in the person of Ayisha the sangoma.  The world they find in the DRC appalls them on the one hand, but inspires them in others as the Children of Phyllis prepare to bring in a new word order under the auspices of Archibald the Magnificent Muddlewick, King o’ Scots, and Phyllis’s daughter, the Glory of Africa (known as Gloria).  Before these things can come to pass the friends must escape the war and mayhem in the DRC, whilst also experiencing moments of comedy.   Managing to overcome all obstacles in their  journey to return home, once there they find war and mayhem ready greet them again.
